Subduing and settling
潜镇 〔潛鎮〕 qián zhèn
To settle fright and subdue yáng, i.e., to treat fright palpitation due to straying of the heart spirit or headache and dizziness due to ascendant liver yáng. Settling subduing medicinals are heavy minerals and shells such as loadstone (Magnetitum, 磁石 cí shí), cinnabar (Cinnabaris, 朱砂 zhū shā), iron flakes (Ferri Frusta, 铁落 tiě luò), dragon bone (Mastodi Ossis Fossilia, 龙骨 lóng gǔ), oyster shell (Ostreae Concha, 牡蛎 mǔ lì), and mother-of-pearl (Concha Margaritifera, 珍珠母 zhēn zhū mǔ).
