Stuck needle
滞针 〔滯針〕 zhì zhēn
A needle inserted in the body that resists turning, lifting, thrusting or performance of any other needle manipulation. Stuck needle occurs in spasm due to nervousness or to rotation in too wide an arc causing tissue to catch on the needle.
Method: First allay any apprehension in the patient, and then massage the local area before trying to gently lift and thrust to free the needle. Sometimes insertion of another needle in the area helps to free the needle.
