Stomach qì governs downbearing
胃气主降 〔胃氣主降〕wèi qì zhǔ jiàng
The stomach decomposes food and bears it down to the intestines. The downward movement of stomach qì stands in complementary and opposite relationship to spleen qì, which governs upbearing (i.e., carries the essence of grain and water upward to be distributed around the body).
