Scourge sand

瘟痧 〔瘟痧〕 wēn shā

A disease caused by depressed deep-lying cold qì that emerges in the spring, or stagnant summerheat-heat that emerges in the autumn, the latter form being by far the more common and more highly contagious. Scourge sand is characterized by heat effusion and aversion to cold that makes it seem similar to but not the same as malaria. Other signs include swelling of the head and face, and in some cases signs such as rapid breathing with fullness and oppression, bloating in the chest and diaphragm, abdominal pain, or dysentery with stool containing pus and blood.

Treatment: Treat by letting blood to discharge the sand toxin. Use Aquilaria and Asafetida Pill (沉香阿魏丸 chén xiāng ē wèi wán).
