Push-cupping
推罐法 〔推罐法〕tuī guàn fǎ
Also slide-cupping. A method of cupping whereby the cup is pushed back and forth over a wide area that has been lubricated with sesame oil, and now often petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
Method: First, smear the area to be cupped with petroleum jelly or other lubricant, and then apply the cup in the same manner as for regular stationary cupping. Once the cup is firmly attached, hold it firmly in two hands, and move it around over the affected area. Remove the cup once the skin is evenly reddened to the desired degree.
Application: This method is applied to large flat fleshy areas such as the back, lumbus, or thighs. It is used for impediment (bì) or other patterns of pain or numbness. See cupping.
