Brain is the sea of marrow

脑为髓之海 〔腦為髓之海〕 nǎo wéi suǐ zhī hǎi

From The Magic Pivot (灵枢 líng shū, hǎi lùn). The ancient Chinese considered the brain and the marrow to be the same in substance. Since the kidney engenders marrow, the brain, as the sea of marrow, is closely related to the kidney. See kidney engenders bone and marrow.
