Phlegm obstructing the network vessels of the lung

痰阻肺络 〔痰阻肺絡〕tán zǔ fèi luò

Obstruction of the lung by phlegm, occurring when an external evil impairs the lung’s function of distributing fluids, and allows fluids to gather to form phlegm. It is characterized by exuberant phlegm, counterflow qì, panting and cough, etc.

NB: The term network vessels of the lung would appear to mean the bronchioles. See phlegm-heat congesting the lung; phlegm-damp obstructing the lung.
