Mouth wash

漱涤 〔漱滌〕 shù dí

含漱〔含漱〕hán shù; 漱口〔漱口〕shù kǒu

Rinsing the mouth with a medicinal decoction, usually prepared with heat-clearing toxin-resolving medicinals, to remove putridity and pus; the medicinal decoction used for this purpose. For example, mouth sores arising in measles can be treated with a mouth wash of multiflora rose root (Rosae Multiflorae Radix, 蔷薇根 qiáng wēi gēn). Baby moth (tonsillitis) can be treated with a mouth wash made of 3g each of mirabilite efflorescence (Mirabiliti Efflorescentia, 风化硝 fēng huà xiāo), alum (Alumen, 白矾 bái fán), and salt (Sal, 石盐 shí yán) boiled with a cup of water and first allowed to cool.
