Malign complexion

恶色 〔惡色〕è sè

Also perished complexion. A dry complexion, showing no sign of vital qi (vitality), a critical sign indicating that stomach qì is exhausted and visceral qì is vanquished. The complexions described in Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, wǔ zàng shēng chéng piān) as green-blue as new shoots of grass; yellow like unripe bitter orange; black as cinders; red as coagulated blood; white as dry bones are all malign complexions.
