Large intestine holds the office of conveyance; mutation arises from it

大肠者,传导之官也,变化出焉 〔大腸者,傳導之官也,變化出焉〕dà cháng zhě, chuán dǎo zhī guān yě, biàn huà chū yān

From Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, líng lán mì diǎn lùn). The large intestine takes the waste passed on from the small intestine, and conveys it downward to the anus, further transforming it as it does so. Statements such as large intestine governs transformation and conveyance of waste and large intestine governs conveyance derive from this.
