Kidney is connected with the bladder

肾合膀胱 〔腎合膀胱〕 shèn hé páng guāng

The kidney stands in exterior-interior relationship with the bladder. The kidney channel connects with the bladder and the bladder channel connects with the kidney. The kidney governs water within the body, and the bladder (essentially by the action of kidney qì) governs the opening and closing, i.e., the release and temporary storage of urine.
