Invisible worm sore of the nose

鼻䘌疮 〔鼻䘌瘡〕bí nì chuāng

A heat sore in the area of the nostrils caused by wind-heat lodged in the lung channel, or by a continually runny nose, or developing from a heat sore. Invisible worm sores of the nose are most commonly observed in children and are characterized by a purple coloration, ulceration, a thick exudate, and itching without pain.

Biomedical correspondence: eczema of the nose.

Medicinal therapy: Take Bovine Bezoar Upper-Body-Clearing Pill (牛黄上清丸 niú huáng shàng qīng wán) and apply clamshell powder (Meretricis seu Cyclinae Concha Pulverata, 蛤粉 gé fěn), indigo (Indigo Naturalis, 青黛 qīng dài), gypsum (Gypsum Fibrosum, 石膏 shí gāo), calomel (Calomelas, 轻粉 qīng fěn), and phellodendron (Phellodendri Cortex, 黄柏 huáng bǎi) topically.
