Insufficiency of fluids

津液不足 〔津液不足〕 jīn yè bù zú

Reduction of body fluids (see fluids) as a result of vigorous heat [effusion] with great sweating, profuse urination, vomiting, and diarrhea. It may also result from misappropriate use of sweat-effusing medicinals, water-disinhibiting medicinals, draining-precipitant medicinals, or warm dry medicinals. Distinction is made between the mild form, damage to liquid, and the severe form, damage to yīn (humor desertion).
