Gān of the heart

心疳 〔心疳〕xīn gān

One of the five gān; a pattern of depressed heat in the heart channel attributed to breast-feeding difficulties. Gān of the heart is characterized by generalized heat, yellow face with reddening of the cheeks, mouth and tongue sores, vexing oppression in the chest and diaphragm, thirst and desire for cold drinks, dysentery with stool containing pus and blood, night sweating, grinding of teeth, and susceptibility to fright.

Medicinal therapy: Clear the heart and drain fire using formulas such as Heart-Draining Red-Abducting Decoction (泻心导赤汤 xiè xīn dǎo chì tāng).
