Bean curd tongue fur

腐苔 〔腐苔〕fǔ tāi

Also tofu tongue fur. A lumpy, easily removable fur like crumbs of bean curd (tofu). A bean curd tongue fur indicates the development of sweltering damp-heat in patterns of damage to yīn by stomach vacuity. This generally occurs in enduring or severe illnesses and indicates complex patterns that are difficult to treat.

Etymology

Chinese:fǔ, rot, rotten, here an abbreviation for 豆腐 dòu fǔ, bean curd (lit. bean rot, so called because it is soft like things that have turned rotten); tāi, moss.
