Bean curd tongue fur

腐苔 〔腐苔〕fǔ tāi

Also tofu tongue fur. A lumpy, easily removable fur like crumbs of bean curd (tofu). A bean curd tongue fur indicates the development of sweltering damp-heat in patterns of damage to yīn by stomach vacuity. This generally occurs in enduring or severe illnesses and indicates complex patterns that are difficult to treat.

Etymology

Chinfǔ, rot, rotten, here an abbreviation for 豆腐 dòu fǔ, bean curd (lit. bean rot, so called because it is soft like things that have turned rotten); tāi, moss.
