Female taxation jaundice

女劳疸 〔女劳疸〕nǚ láo dǎn

Also sexual taxation jaundice. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes) resulting when excessive sexual activity causes kidney depletion with stasis heat brewing internally and characterized by black forehead, lesser abdominal fullness, heat in the hands and feet, spontaneous sweating, and generalized yellowing. Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Cabinet (金匮要略 jīn guì yào lüè) states: Blackness on the forehead, slight sweating, heat in the center of the hands and feet, symptoms manifesting at dusk, tension in the bladder, and spontaneous uninhibited urination is called female taxation jaundice. If the abdomen appears as if there was water, it is untreatable. It is treated with Niter and Alum Powder (硝石矾石xiāo shí fán shí sǎn).
