说文解字 〔說文解字〕 shuō wén

An early dictionary by Xǔ Shèn (许慎 c. 58–147) defining 9,353 characters. Eastern Hàn. In the title, 文 wén means simple pictograms and logograms; 字 zì means complex characters, such as those with a radical and a phonetic.
