阴阳两虚 〔陰陽兩虛〕yīn yáng liǎng xū

Vacuity of the yīn and yáng of the bowels and viscera, especially of kidney yīn and kidney yáng or vacuity of qì and blood. It arises through the mechanism of detriment to yīn affecting yáng, detriment to yáng affecting yīn, or detriment to both yīn and yáng. Yīn or yáng vacuity may be more pronounced depending on the pathomechanism involved. The main signs are fear of cold and cold limbs, fatigue and lack of strength, scantness of breath and laziness to speak, spontaneous sweating and night sweating, postmeridian tidal heat, and vexing heat in the five hearts. Other signs include dullness of essence-spirit, emaciation, heart palpitation and insomnia, and dizzy head and vision. The tongue is enlarged and tender. The pulse is fine, rapid, and forceless.

Medicinal therapy: Enrich yīn and assist yáng. Use Golden Cabinet Kidney Qì Pill (金匮肾气丸 jīn guì shèn qì wán).
