Distress below the heart
心下急 〔心下急〕 xīn xià jí
A feeling of distress associated with slight pain and fullness in the stomach duct. Distress below the heart is caused by evil heat binding in the stomach and occurs after severe vomiting. It may also be associated with heart vexation and constipation.
Biomedical correspondence: observed in acute gastritis and intestinal flu.
