助阳解表 〔助陽解表〕zhù yáng jiě biǎo
To treat yáng qì vacuity in external contractions with signs such as pronounced aversion to cold with mild heat effusion, absence of sweating, lack of warmth in the extremities, desire to wrap up well to keep warm, fatigued essence-spirit, headache, hypersomnia, somber-white facial complexion, faint low voice, white tongue fur, and a forceless sunken pulse. An example of a yáng-assisting exterior-resolving formula is Renewal Powder (再造散 zài zào sǎn), which contains astragalus (Astragali Radix, 黄芪 huáng qí), codonopsis (Codonopsis Radix, 党参 dǎng shēn), cinnamon twig (Cinnamomi Ramulus, 桂枝 guì zhī), licorice (Glycyrrhizae Radix, 甘草 gān cǎo), cooked aconite (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Conquita, 熟附子 shú fù zǐ), asarum (Asari Rhizoma et Radix, 细辛 xì xīn), notopterygium (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 羌活 qiāng huó), saposhnikovia (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风 fáng fēng), chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎 chuān xiōng), fresh ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 生姜 shēng jiāng), peony (Paeoniae Radix, 芍药 sháo yào), and jujube (Jujubae Fructus, 大枣 dà zǎo).
