Depressed fire

郁火 〔鬱火〕 yù huǒ

1. Any pattern arising when yáng qì becomes depressed and exuberant heat arises. Signs include headache, red eyes, mouth sores, abdominal pain, constipation, reddish urine, red tongue with yellow fur, and a rapid replete pulse.

2. Any pattern arising when affect-mind depression causes disharmony in the bowels and viscera, allowing internal heat to arise. Signs include headache, rib-side pain, insomnia, irascibility, tongue with red tip or margins, and a rapid stringlike pulse.
