Dampness forming with cold

湿从寒化 〔濕從寒化〕shī cóng hán huà

The development of cold-damp in patients suffering from impaired fluid transformation due to devitalized spleen yáng, giving rise to abdominal fullness and diarrhea, and sometimes to phlegm-rheum and water swelling. This corresponds to the pathomechanism described in Plain Questions (素问 sù wèn, zhì zhēn yào dà lùn) as All dampness with swelling and fullness is ascribed to the spleen.

Medicinal therapy: Treat by warming and transforming with formulas such as Spleen-Firming Beverage (实脾饮 shí pí yǐn).
