Properties: Sweet, slightly bitter; warm.

Actions and indications:
- Moves qì and resolves depression: Courses the liver and rectifies qì: Liver-stomach disharmony, manifesting in rib-side pain, oppression in the stomach duct, and distension and pain in the stomach and stomach duct.
- Harmonizes the blood and disperses stasis: Menstrual irregularities; distension and pain in the breasts prior to menstruation; stasis and pain from injury from knocks and falls.
Dosage and method: Oral: 3–6g in decoctions.
Quality: Best are large flowers with thick petals, bright mauve coloring, and strong scent.
Production area: Jiāngsū, Zhèjiāng, Fújiàn, Shāndōng, Sìchuān, Héběi.
