HT-2 Green-Blue Spirit
青灵 〔青靈〕 qīng líng

Modern location: An acupoint located on the medial aspect of the upper arm, 3 cùn superior to the cubital crease, on the medial side of the biceps brachii muscle.

Local anatomy: The basilic vein, the superior ulnar collateral artery. The medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve, the medial brachial cutaneous nerve and the ulnar nerve.
Action: Frees the channels and quickens the network vessel; regulates qì and blood.
Modern indications:
Classical indications: Inability to lift the arm; headache and shivering.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.3‒0.5 cùn perpendicular insertion. Moxa: 3‒7 cones; pole 5‒10 min.
Point name meaning:
The epithet spirit is a reference to the heart’s function of storing the spirit. The character 神 (líng) is usually used for the spirit that the heart stores. In this case, 灵 (líng), the yīn aspect of spirit, is used to represent that spirit.
The character 青 (qīng) is most commonly used to represent the colors green and blue. In older texts, it is also used to indicate black or purple. In this point name, 青 may refer to green as the color associated with wood (plant life), which engenders fire (the heart), or as the color of life, exemplified by the sprouting of green leaves in springtime (the heart governs life and death). It may be further construed as a reference to the deep red color of the blood in the vessels, which are governed by the heart, or the color purple, which is associated with royalty (the heart being the sovereign viscus).
