Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sweet and slightly bitter; balanced.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; rectifies qì and disperses binds. Treats common cold; whooping cough; painful swollen throat; mounting qì (shàn qì); swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); scrofula.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g dried, fresh 30–60g). Topical: Crush or exact juice and apply.
