Actions and indications: Opens the stomach (increases appetite) and loosens the intestines; precipitates qì and disperses accumulation. Treats intestine-gripping sand (jiǎo cháng shā); gastrointestinal accumulation; chronic diarrhea; food-denying dysentery (dysentery with inability to eat); wandering cinnabar toxin; welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū), and effusion of the back (fā bèi); scrofula; burns and scalds.
