Properties: Salty; cold.

Channel entry: Heart, liver, and stomach channels.

Indications:

Clears heat, cools the blood, and resolves toxin: Heat entering the provisioning-blood in warm disease, manifesting in maculopapular eruption and vomiting of blood (blood ejection) or nosebleed; heat entering the pericardium in warm disease, manifesting in vigorous heat effusion, vexation and agitation, clouded spirit, and convulsions; bleeding due to frenetic movement of hot blood.

Dosage & Method: Oral: 2.5–15g in decoctions.

Warnings: Contraindicated in vacuity cold patterns.
