Use: Medicinal

Category: Heat-clearing agents / Heat-clearing dampness-drying agents

Properties: Bitter*; cold*; nontoxic*.

Channel entry: Heart, liver, and large intestine channels.*

Indications:

• Clears heat and dries dampness: Dysentery; jaundice.
• Drains fire and resolves toxin: Febrile disease with vexation and agitation; lung heat cough; swelling of welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); sores and boils; painful red swollen eyes.

  Dosage & Method: Oral: 6–12g. Topical: Apply ground (if using fresh product, crushed). Can also be used a wash.

  Quality: Golden yellow roots are the best.

  Product Area: Sìchuān, Qīnghǎi, Héběi.
