- Clears heat and dries dampness: diarrhea and dysentery; jaundice;
sores and boils ;damp sores (shī zhěn);painful red swollen eyes . - Cools the blood and abates steaming bone tidal heat: pulmonary consumption; coughing of blood; vomiting of blood;
steaming bone tidal heat effusion .
Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (6–9g) or use in pills and powders. Topical. Apply as a powder.
Production area: Mahonia fortunei: Sìchuān, Húběi, Zhèjiāng. Mahonia japonica: Southern and South-western China.
