Actions and indications: As for cháng shān, although shǔ qī's emetic action is stronger. It is combined with Lóng gǔ (龙骨 Mastodi Ossis Fossilia, dragon bone) to treat female malaria, which is malarial disease characterized by more pronounced aversion to cold than heat effusion.
Dosage and method: Oral: 3–6g.
Warnings: Combining shǔ qī with cháng shān is contraindicated.
Production area: South of the Yangtze, Gānsū, southern Shǎnxī (Shaanxi), and Sìchuān.
