Indications:

  • Astringes the intestines and checks diarrhea: Enduring diarrhea and dysentery.
  • Stanches bleeding with astringency: Flooding and spotting; vaginal discharge.
  • Can also treat hemorrhoids and fistulas.

    Dosage & Method:

    Oral: Decoct (9–20g); or use in powders or pills. Topical: Grind and sprinkle on affected area or apply mixed.

    Quality:

    Unbroken dark-colored lumps with pronounced layers are the best.

    Hénán, Jiāngsū, Zhèjiāng, Sìchuān.
