Properties: Sweet and astringent; cool; nontoxic.

Channel entry: Heart, lung, kidney, and large intestine channels.

Actions and indications: Clears the heart and moistens the lung; downbears fire and engenders liquid. Treats summerheat-heat with vexation and thirst; cough; vomiting of blood (blood ejection); effusion of the back (fā bèi); clove sores (dīng).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g; fresh 30–60g). Topical: Apply crushed.

Production area: Héběi, Shāndōng.
