Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and acrid*; slightly warm*; slightly toxic*.

Actions and indications: Reduces inflammation and swelling; terminate malaria; kills worms. Treats hepatitis; cirrhosis of the liver with ascites; malarial disease; lài and oxhide lichen (niú pí xiǎn).

Dosage and method: Topical: Apply crushed to produce blistering; apply juice; decoct as a wash. Oral: Decoct (3–9g).
