Use: Medicinal

Properties: Acrid and bitter; cool; nontoxic.^✽

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin. Treats fright epilepsy (jīng xián) with high fever; malarial disease; cough; sore throat; damp impediment (shī bì); welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū), lichen (xiǎn), and sores; cinnabar toxin (erysipelas); itchy papules; snake and insect bites.

Dosage and method: 5–10g.
