Indications:

  • Moistens the lung and transforms phlegm: Lung heat cough; vacuity heat phlegm cough.
  • Nourishes and the stomach and harmonizes the center: Stomach heat damage to liquid.

    Dosage & Method:

    Oral: Decoct (6–12g) or prepare as a paste.

    Warning:

    Unsuitable for spleen-stomach vacuity. This medicinal is highly moistening and has little qì-supplementing effect; hence it cannot be used as a substitute for 党参.

    Quality:

    Best are thick heavy solid roots with smooth semitranslucent yellowish skin.
