Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sweet and bland; balanced; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and disinhibits dampness; disperses swelling and resolves toxin. Treats jaundice; water swelling; gall, kidney, or bladder stones; stomach reflux; dysphagia-occlusion (yē gé); injury from knocks and falls; toxin swelling of clove sores (dīng).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (15–60g) or press the juice. Topical: Apply crushed.

Production area: Produced mainly in Sìchuān, but also in Jiāngsū, Guǎngdōng, Zhèjiāng, and Húnán.
