Properties: Acrid and bitter*; balanced*; nontoxic*.
Channel entry: Spleen, lung, and liver channels.
Indications:
- Quickens the blood and relieves pain: Wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain;
injuries from knock and falls . - Stanches bleeding: vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed; bleeding from external injury.
- Resolves toxin and engenders flesh:
welling- and flat-abscesses andsores ; scrofula.Dosage & Method: Oral: Use in pills and powders (3–6g); do not decoct. Topical: Grind to a powder and sprinkle on or apply mixed; can also be prepared as a paste.
