天胡荽 〔天胡荽〕 tiān hú suī

Origin in unofficial sources: Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides Lam.; Hydrocotyle wilfordi Maxim.

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and acrid; cold.

Actions and indications: Clears heat; disinhibits urine; disperses swelling; resolves toxin. Treats jaundice; red and white dysentery; strangury; inhibited urination; eye screens; painful swollen throat; welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū) and clove sores (dīng); stasis swelling due to injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g). Topical: Apply crushed; juice for ear drops.
