Properties: Acrid; warm.

Channel entry: Spleen and stomach channels.

Indications:

• Warms the center and stanches bleeding: vomiting of blood (blood ejection), bloody stool, bloody urine, or flooding and spotting due to vacuity cold.
• Checks vomiting: Vomiting and retching due to center vacuity cold; malign obstruction (morning sickness).
• Checks diarrhea: Enduring diarrhea due to spleen vacuity; vaginal discharge.
• Applied topically for shank sores and swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng).

  Dosage & Method: Oral: Decoct (15–30g or up to 120g, cloth-wrapped) or use in powders; drink as tea. Topical: Grind and apply mixed.

  Warnings: Not suitable for yīn vacuity bleeding or heat pattern vomiting or stomach reflux.
