Category: Interior-warming agents
Properties: Acrid; warm.
Channel entry: Spleen and stomach channels.
Indications:
- Warms the center and stanches bleeding: vomiting of blood (blood ejection), bloody stool, bloody urine, or flooding and spotting due to vacuity cold.
- Checks vomiting:
Vomiting and retching due tocenter vacuity cold ; malign obstruction (morning sickness). - Checks diarrhea: Enduring diarrhea due to spleen vacuity; vaginal discharge.
- Applied topically for
shank sores and swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng).Dosage & Method: Oral: Decoct (15–30g or up to 120g, cloth-wrapped) or use in powders; drink as tea. Topical: Grind and apply mixed.
Warnings: Not suitable for yīn vacuity bleeding or heat pattern vomiting or stomach reflux.
