Properties: Acrid; balanced.
Channel entry: Spleen, stomach, and lung channels.
Indications:
- Transforms dampness: Dampness stagnating in the center burner.
- Resolves summerheat: Externally contracted summerheat-damp; initial-stage damp warmth disease.
Dosage & Method: Oral: 5–10g in decoctions; increase the dosage if the fresh form is used.
Warnings: Because pèi lán is a relatively strong, acrid, and dispersing medicinal, it must be used with care in cases of yīn vacuity and qì vacuity.
Quality: Best are green leafy plants with few stems, unopened flowers, and a strong aroma.
