Properties: Acrid; warm.

Channel entry: Liver, spleen, and lung channels.*

Actions and indications: Dispels wind-damp, moves qì and blood, and disinhibits joints. Treats distension and pain in the heart [region] and abdomen; leg qì (jiǎo qì); painful wind; scab (jiè) and lichen (xiǎn); injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g); steep in wind. Topical: Decoct as a steam-wash.

Quality: A strong aroma is the mark of good quality.

Production area: Guǎngdōng, Jiāngxī, Fújiàn, Táiwān, Húběi, Sìchuān, Yúnnán.
