Properties: Bitter, acrid, and numbing*; warm*; highly toxic*.
Channel entry: Liver channel.
Actions and indications:
- Dispels wind and dampness; strengthens sinew and bone: Wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain; painful injury from knocks and falls.
- Kills worms and resolves toxin: Toxin swelling of
sores ; venomous snake bites.
Dosage and method: Oral: 0.02–0.05g taken in powder form. Topical: make as a medicinal wine as a topical rub or apply ground with wine.
Warnings: Contraindicated in pregnancy and for young children, the aged, and people with heart disease or ulcers. Care should be taken not to exceed prescribed doses.
