Properties: Sweet; slightly cold. (Some sources also say bitter.)

Indications:
- Clears vacuity heat:
Yīn vacuity with heat CHECK . - Eliminates gān heat effusion: gān accumulation with heat effusion (malnutrition with fever).
Dosage & Method: Oral: 3–10g in decoctions.
Warnings: Contraindicated in exterior contraction of wind-cold, as well as in blood vacuity with an absence of heat.
Quality: Best are long roots that are pale brown on the surface and white on yellowing white on the cross section.
