Ingredients:

• Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 60g
• Mù xiāng (木香 Aucklandiae Radix, costusroot) (roasted) 130g

Action: Clears heat and dries dampness; moves qì and relieves pain.

Indication: Damp-heat dysentery with red and white stool, abdominal pain and tenesmus.

Category: Heat-clearing formulas / Bowel and visceral heat-clearing formula

Method: Stir-fry the huangqin with wuzhuyu, which is discarded before both agents are ground to a powder, blended with flour and vinegar, and formed into pills the size of firmiana seeds. Take 12 pills at a time.
