- Lóng dǎn (龙胆 Gentianae Radix, gentian [root]))
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
- Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit])
- Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) (roasted in wet paper)
- Qiāng huó (羌活 Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, notopterygium [root])g
- Fáng fēng (防风 Saposhnikoviae Radix, saposhnikovia) (stone-baked)
- Zhú yè1 (竹叶1 Bambusae Folium, black bamboo leaf)

Method: All ingredients in equal proportions, ground to a powder and made into pills with honey or water. 6 gr twice a day.
Rationale: Lóng dǎn is very bitter and cold agents that is very effective for liver-gallbladder repletion fire. Dà huáng and Zhī zǐ help the Lóng dǎn in this task, and also free the stool and urine, abducting the heat from the body. Chuān xiōng, Qiāng huó, and Fáng fēng disperse depressed liver fire and restore the liver's orderly reaching. Dāng guī both supplements and quickens the blood, addressing damage to yīn blood that liver heat can cause. It also helps the Chuān xiōng to disperse depression. The Dà huáng counteracts its warmth and acridity and enhances its blood-quickening action. Zhú yè1 clears heat and eliminates vexation, conducting the heat out with the urine.
