Acorus and Curcuma Decoction
菖蒲郁金汤 〔菖蒲鬱金湯〕chāng pú yù jīn tāng

Ingredients:
- Shí chāng pú (石菖蒲 Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, acorus [root]) 9 gr; Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 9g (stir-fried)
- Xiān zhú yè (鲜竹叶 Lophatheri Folium Recens, fresh lophatherum leaf) 9g
- Mǔ dān pí (牡丹皮 Moutan Cortex, moutan [bark]) 9g
- Yù jīn (郁金 Curcumae Radix, curcuma [root]) 6g
- Lián qiào (连翘 Forsythiae Fructus, forsythia [fruit]) 6g
- Dēng xīn cǎo (灯心草 Junci Medulla, juncus [pith]) 6g
- Mù tōng (木通 Akebiae Trifoliatae Caulis, trifoliate akebia) 4.5g
- Zhú lì (竹沥 Bambusae Succus, bamboo sap) (drench) 15g

Action: Clears provisioning and outthrusts heat.
Indication: Latent wind-damp conditions where, after the exterior evil has been resolved by promotion of sweating with cool acrid medicinals to allow temporary abatement of heat effusion, the heat in the chest and abdomen remains and builds up, giving rise to scorching heat with sweating, vexation and agitation, insomnia, sometimes clouded sometimes clear spirit-mind, delirious speech at night, crimson tongue, a rapid pulse that sinks if there is reversal cold of the limbs. This formula treats relatively mild conditions.
