Source: Shāng Hán Lùn 伤寒论

Ingredients

• Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) 9–12g
• Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 2–3g
• Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 6–9g
• Gān jiāng (干姜 Zingiberis Rhizoma, dried ginger) 9–12g
• Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) 6–9g
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 9–12g
• Dà zǎo (大枣 Jujubae Fructus, jujube) 3–5g

Actions: Boosts qì and supplements vacuity.

Indications: As for banxiaxiexintangi.e., glomus below the heart, dry retching, diarrhea, and heart vexation, but its extra gancao gives it greater power to boost qì and supplement vacuity. Tongue: Pale with thin white fur. Pulse: Weak and slow.

Method: Decoct with water.

Notes: This is Bàn xià xiè xīn tāng (半夏泻心汤 Pinellia Heart-Draining Decoction) plus extra Gān cǎo.
