新加黄龙汤 〔新加黃龍湯〕xīn jiā huáng lóng tāng

Alternate Chinese names: 新加参归承气汤

Ingredients:

Action: Enriches yīn and supplements qì; cools the blood; frees the stool.

Indication: Yáng brightness bowel repletion pattern with insufficiency of yīn-blood and damage to fluids. Signs: constipation, abdominal fullness, lassitude of spirit, scantness of breath, dry throat, and parched, cracked lips. Tongue fur: Burnt yellow or black. Pulse: Sunken and weak.

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: This formula increases water to move the grounded ship. It addresses patterns characterized by pronounced dryness, as compared with Huáng lóng tāng (黄龙汤 Yellow Dragon Decoction), which treats patterns characterized by pronounced heat.

Notes: This is Huáng lóng tāng (黄龙汤 Yellow Dragon Decoction) minus zhishi, houpo, jiegeng, dazao, plus shengdihuang, maidong, xuanshen, and haishen.
