Ingredients

Actions: Enriches yīn and supplements qì; cools the blood; frees the stool.

Indications: Yáng brightness bowel repletion pattern with insufficiency of yīn-blood and damage to fluids. Signs: constipation, abdominal fullness, lassitude of spirit, scantness of breath, dry throat, and parched, cracked lips. Tongue fur: Burnt yellow or black. Pulse: Sunken and weak.

Method: Decoct with water.

Notes: This is Huáng lóng tāng (黄龙汤 Yellow Dragon Decoction) minus Zhǐ shí, Hòu pò, Jié gěng, Dà zǎo, plus Shēng dì huáng, Mài dōng, Xuán shēn, and Hǎi shēn.
