Source: Yī Fāng Kǎo 医方考

Ingredients:

• Yù jīn (郁金 Curcumae Radix, curcuma [root]) 210g
• Míng fán (明矾 Alumen , alum) 90g

Action: Dispels phlegm and opens the orifices.

Indication: Epilepsy with copious phlegm, sudden clouding collapse and foaming at the mouth.

Category: Phlegm-dispelling formulas / Wind-relieving phlegm-transforming formula

Dosage: 3–6g twice daily.

Rationale: Yù jīn moves qì and breaks phlegm. It also clears the heart and opens depression. Bái fán dries dampness and transforms phlegm.
