Ingredients
- Lú sī xián (鸬鸶涎 Phalacrocoracis Saliva, cormorant’s saliva) 300g
- Niú bàng zǐ (牛蒡子 Arctii Fructus, arctium [seed]) 300g
- Shí gāo (石膏 Gypsum Fibrosum, gypsum) 200g
- Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 200g
- Tiān huā fěn (天花粉 Trichosanthis Radix, trichosanthes root) 200g
- Wǎ léng zǐ (瓦楞子 Arcae Concha, ark shell) 200g
- Shè gān (射干 Belamcandae Rhizoma, belamcanda [root]) 100g
- Qīng dài (青黛 Indigo Naturalis , indigo) 100g
- Má huáng (麻黄 Ephedrae Herba, ephedra) 80g
- Xìng rén (杏仁 Armeniacae Semen, apricot kernel) 200g
- Xì xīn (细辛 Asari Rhizoma et Radix, asarum) 50g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 40g
Actions: Clears heat, transforms phlegm, and relieves cough.
Indications: Whooping cough.

Method: Melt in water or boil as a decoction in a cloth bag.
Dosage: 1–2 pills 2–3 times a day.
Rationale: Shí gāo, Zhī zǐ, Tiān huā fěn, and Qīng dài all clear heat. Cormorant's saliva, Shè gān, clamshell, Niú bàng zǐ seed, and Gān cǎo transform phlegm. Má huáng, Xìng rén, and Xì xīn diffuse the lung and relieve cough. All these agents work together to clear heat, transform phlegm, and relieve cough.
